I) Keep your Enemies closer-
A) Original quote--Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. It was from a Chinese Philosopher and Military General named Sun Tzu. It was used in the business world as well as in the academy award movie, "The Godfather".
B) Jesus illustrated this principle with Judas. (John 6:70)
2) Love of God--
A) Gave him the sop dipped in Bitter herbs--A sign of a place of honor. Jesus was showing love by offering Judas a place of honor in his ministry. (John 13:26)
B) Jesus called Judas friend. A friend is a covenant partner. Jesus was giving Judas one last time to repent. He was offering him reconciliation. (Matt 26:50)
3) Judas heart was hardened
A) Saw the power of God and got knocked down 1 time with the rest. (John 18:5-9)
B) Saw the healing of the servant whose ear Peter cut off. (Luke 22:50-51)
3) The Kiss of Death.
A) Judas betrays Jesus with a kiss. (Luke 22:47)
4) The Spirit of Bitterness.
A) Judas was bitter towards Jesus, and that bitterness grew within him. He could not forgive himself and committed suicide.(Matt 27:-5)
B) We need to forgive ourselves for our past sins and memories.
