Are you dressed for the wedding?
"And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless." (Matt 22:12)
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about a wedding? Catching up with family members who you haven't seen in a while? Eating good foods? Happy Atmosphere? How about clothes?
Sometimes, we can plan a great wedding, but unfortunately, we have to deal with "Wedding Crashers!" Those are people who were not invited. Sometimes, you might find them not dressed. At times, they may not be in the list of friends. They are easy to spot.
One thing that bears notice is the word "Friend!" Friend is not someone you hang out with and have a good time. Friend is one that is in covenant with another. That is sacred in some cultures and breaking it has severe consequences. Apparently, this person had a covenant with God, but for some reason, he fell short. He wasn't properly clothed. When you study this, you will find that the teaching of once saved, always saved is not only wrong, but it is dangerous!
It is not enough to profess salvation. You've got to be clothed with the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Do you know who you are in Christ? It can mean the difference between Salvation and Hell!! Our Lord Jesus said that if our righteousness does not exceed the righteousness of the Pharisees and Scribes, we will not enter heaven! (Matt 5:20) So, learn who you are in Christ and be clothed in his righteousness, then heaven's best can be yours.
