It pays to listen!

" And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of Man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry." (Matt 17:22-23)

As you read this verse, it may not say anything at first, but upon analyzing this, we see that the disciples were not listening to the words of the Messiah. If a loved one tells you that he/she is going to die, it is natural to be grieved. One can understand the days of mourning and sadness, not to mention the void that would be left behind because of their loss, but read the above verse again and you will see that the disciples were missing a very important point-He will raise again on the 3rd day!!
You wonder what was going on in their heads. Did they really take the time to listen to the rest of the sentence? He was going to be raised on the 3rd day!!! Years ago, there was a popular commercial that said when E. F. HUTTON SPEAKS... and there was silence and all ears were on that person! The question to ask ourselves is are we really listening when people in our jobs, loved ones or even the Lord is speaking to us?
Sometimes, a person may bring up something that you may, strongly, disagree with. You don't listen to the sentence and you shake your head sideways and interrupt him/her before they finish. Perhaps, they were bringing it up to, then, express an opinion that you would agree with, but you did not take the time to listen to the end of the sentence. Many marriages can improve on their relationships if they would take time to listen.
Let's  look at the above verse again. Jesus said that he was going to be raised on the 3rd day. Get a hold of this because this is shouting ground. Did you realize that Jesus went to the pit of hell, defeated hell, Satan and all his demons? Then, he held a parade, showing them naked and took back what belonged to us in the first place? (Eph 4: 8-10/Col 2:15)  Then to top it off, he came to Earth, expecting to find a welcoming committee and a parade, but instead found his disciples afraid and hiding? They had missed their chance to be blessed!
Take some time to listen, especially where the Lord is concerned. What are some areas that God wants to resurrect in your life? Your marriage, finances, Health or dreams? It is time to believe for resurrection power! Don't miss out by not listening to what God has in store for you. You have a bright future with Jesus! God bless!
