HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF!

Date setting is nothing new! Recently, we had a dear Brother predict the end of the world was coming on May 21st.  He, also, said that Jesus was coming back. Well, we know what happened!  May 21st came and went! Jesus did not come and the world did not end.  My friends, this isn't new. There was an incident years ago that had Christ coming at 1988! In fact, a book was written and sold a lot of copies. Yours truly was caught up in that, much to my shame. Again, 1988 came and went. No Christ, no judgement!!!

                                                              Y2K

Who remembers the famous Y2K scare? Many dear brothers were selling survival kits. They were predicting that 2,000 was coming and the computers were not going to work properly. Some "so-called" prophets claimed doom and gloom! Well, it has been more than 10 years and life hasn't changed. Brethren, we need to hold accountable those in the body who say these things and stop supporting their ministries. Yes, there is room for forgiveness, if they admit they were off, but some have not admitted to their mistakes and are still ministering as a "prophet". The sad part is that many are still supporting their ministries!

                                          Getting things straight

The Bible illustrates a time when many precious brethren were setting a date for the return of Jesus. When that date came and left, many were discouraged. Some were even questioning their faith. Let's see what the apostle Paul had to say-
" Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"
(I Thess  2:1-3)
There are a couple of aspects here. Number 1, the first verse talks about a gathering together unto him. This is, clearly, talking about a rapture. Then, he starts to describes what precedes the rapture. A falling away! If you do a study of the Greek word, it means to depart not, only,  in the sense of the truth; but from a place or person. Another reference on rapture. Then, the man of sin (Beast) will be revealed. In other words, the Beast will come to the scene after the rapture.
It amuses me that we have precious brethren saying that President Obama is the Beast. The word is clear. We will depart and be with Jesus, then the evil one will be manifested. When will it happen? I don't know. All I know is that we are seeing signs of his coming with freakish weather patterns that has hit all around the world and our shores. (II Tim 3:1)  Perilous times are here with not only high crime rates but danger from the natural elements themselves.
Let's stop listening to date setters and focus our eyes on Jesus. Let us serve him with a committed heart. Let us love him more and be obedient to his Spirit. Let us hate sin and love righteousness because Jesus is coming soon. Are you ready?
