IT'S TIME TO DO SOME HOUSECLEANING!
" And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves." (Matt 21: 12-13)
Here we see a side of Jesus that few people know. The world see Jesus as a doormat, an easygoing, not rocking the boat guy. These passages paint a different picture. Jesus got angry and did something that wasn't too popular in religious circles. He threw out the moneychangers and those who were doing business in the house of prayer! To top it off, he called them thieves, which gives us the impression that they were, probably, charging a hefty price to sell their sacrifices to the people for the temple. This is known as the cleansing of the temple.
Brethren, Jesus is not against us having a business of our own and prospering. In fact, truth be told-He wants us to prosper in our finances.(Ps 112:3) What we see here is that Jesus was addressing their greed. They weren't happy with just getting a profit, they wanted more and more money! This speaks to us too! We are God's house!! God desires to make us a house of prayer, but we need to do some housecleaning, too! (Heb 3:6)
What are some things that are stealing your time with God? What distractions and leisure time are taking you from your Bible studies? Have you missed church services for the sake of making more money in your business? Friends, God is speaking 24/7 thru his word! It is time to get connected to it by his Spirit. It could in the long run mean the difference between Life and Death! Spring is around the corner. So, consider this a time to do some "Spring" house cleaning. Time to get radical and make yourself a house of prayer. God bless-Amen!
Prayer-"Dear Lord, show me areas in which I need to make adjustments. Make me a house of prayer. Examine the thieves in my life that is taking your time from serving you. Help me to make the necessary corrections to serve and love you. In Jesus Name-Amen."
